CITIES, ARCHITECTURE AND SOCIETY
Curator: Ricky Burdett
The title for this edition of the Biennale, which is held from 10 September to 25 November, is Architecture, cities and society. Under the direction of the urban planner and architect Richard Burdett, the current edition focuses on the design and planning of cities and their social dynamic. It will additionally analyse the role of architects and Architecture in the construction of urban spaces, as well as its links with legislation and governments. During the Biennale a Manifesto for Twenty-first Century Cities will be drawn up, to tackle issues such as the development of the potentialities offered by cities when it comes to building a more sustainable and egalitarian world. This document will be distributed to decision-makers in urban development policies and plans all over the world.
